About the Artist

Janet Hamilton is an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University Southeast, where she teaches organ and accompanies the Concert Choir. She is the Music Director at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lanesville, Indiana. Dr. Hamilton earned a Music Education degree from Indiana State University, and both Masters and Doctoral degrees in Organ Performance from Indiana University. Her teachers include Lidetta Matthen, Oswald Ragatz, and Larry Smith. Janet is one of the founding members of the Southern Indiana chapter of the American Guild of Organists. In the past few years, she has served on the alumni board for the Jacobs School of Music at IU. She has performed recitals at IU Southeast and numerous churches in the throughout the Midwest. In 2001 she recorded a CD of the organ works of Joseph Clokey. Other musical interests include performing organ works by contemporaries of Bach and Mozart, and Twentieth-Century Danish composers. Dr. Hamilton enjoys performing piano duets with her
brother, James Pfister and playing the violin with her daughters, Michelle Warren (flute) and Angela Thomas (string bass). She and her husband Bob live in Borden, Indiana.
